Day 1:

The Box!

Inaugural Post!

To kick off the box project, I wanted to post a picture of the box that you sent to me last week. I'm going to try to document it as I unpack more stuff. There's great markings all over it, and of course great looking stuff packed inside!

The Box!

Looks like some cool stuff! I'm really curious about the Bliss barometer. How many families can boast one of those!

The other box

This is my first post, and this is my box, by a sunny window.

I remember filling this with random things at my mom's place in California, in preparation for her move to Texas.

After she died I went through the dozens of boxes in her storage unit, deciding which things to keep, and which should go in the estate sale. There were lots of boxes I marked "no sale" and took home so I could go through them later. I have explored several boxes so far, but not this one. It is an odd combination of emotions for me to pull things from these boxes, some of which I haven't seen in literally decades. I find things that are amusing, often poignant, and sometimes enigmatic. I expected these old memories to make me sad for the lost times, but I was pleasantly surprised to find enjoyment reliving them. I'm looking forward to seeing what surprises are waiting in here...

I like the sunny corner of these photos. Was this box in Gramma's storage unit, or at our house? Also, remind me what year Gramma moved from California to Dallas. :)

And by Gramma, I mean my Gramma. Dottie. :)

This was one of the boxes in her "storage unit," which was really just a big closet off of the hall at her retirement community. Based on the markings on the boxes, it appears that some were packed up in Corpus Christi and moved unopened to Pittsburgh, San Diego and then to Dallas in Fall of 2002.
