The Anchora

anchora

Cover of one of my mom's Delta Gamma publications. I thought you might like seeing the characters depicted in the illustration. Can you relate? She saved everything from her college years, and this is only one of many many bits of ephemera.

I grew up hearing many stories of sorority life from my mom, and I know I've talked ad nauseum about how much I regret not being able to be in one. She absolutely loved it. I am so glad you got to have that experience.

Can you remember any of those stories? Did she remain active as an alumni?

(more to come about the ones I found in my box!)

I can't remember any good stories off the top of my head, only that Delta Gamma symbol was the anchor. Oh, and a song she used to sing just occurred to me:

"Oh I'm a DG, a dirty little DG,
I leave a trail of blood where ere I go...
I'm a dirty splotch, on the family Scotch,
and I eat (slurp) raw (slurp) meat (slurp slurp)!"

It goes without saying that I always thought that was a little weird.

She kept her mailing address current with them. They sent a postcard recently asking for her info for the next directory and I had to call and tell them she had died. It was kind of sad.
